If you are seeking to make the transition from a science or mathematics-based career to become an engineer, or if you already have an engineering degree and would like to change paths to a different specialisation, the Master of Professional Engineering offers an accredited qualification that will enable you to practise in Australia and overseas. The structural specialisation is concerned with the design of high-rise buildings, industrial complexes, bridges, stadiums, and sporting and exhibition centres.

This degree will also help you develop the sound communication, management and decision-making capabilities necessary to interpret and discuss complex issues in your area of specialisation. The program will provide you with the engineering professional practice and research skills that lead to recognition as an Australian graduate engineer. Your qualifications will be recognised internationally through the Washington Accord of the International Engineering Alliance.

Graduate opportunities

Career paths for structural engineering graduates include working in the design of major structures including bridges, high-rise buildings, industrial buildings, stadiums, and sporting and exhibition centres. Structural engineers need to show innovation and apply artistic, creative and technical skills to design. Many find employment in specialist consulting structural engineering firms.

Research activities in the faculty focus on a wide range of areas from aerospace, biomedical, combustion, processing and manufacture, design, robotics, electronics, networks, wireless and satellite systems. If you would like to be part of Sydney's engineering research community, you may consider applying for admission to a research degree. Students completing a Master of Professional Engineering program with excellent average marks are eligible to undertake supervised research in the degree of Master of Philosophy or Doctor of Philosophy.

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants need to have one of the following: a bachelor’s degree with first or second-class honours from the University of Sydney or another approved institution; an equivalent qualification that demonstrates sufficient research experience and capability. English Language Requirements: TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing; IELTS score: A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band; TOEFL - PBT score: A minimum result of 592 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing.
