在這里學(xué)什么?For musicians with an unconventional mindset, you’re not alone in your desire to break the mold. A master’s degree in Jazz Studies will give you endless opportunities to deepen your knowledge and advance as a leader in your musical career. Our program offers rigorous instruction in music theory, music history, improvisation techniques, jazz arranging, music literature, research methods, and pedagogy. Students have the opportunity for hands-on experience through participation in ensembles and combos. We also offer individualized applied lessons on your instrument of choice to deepen your knowledge. Throughout the program, you will receive mentorship and career advice from renowned faculty, as well as opportunities for leadership within your cohort. Our alumni’s skills are in-demand as professional musicians and teachers.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH A MASTER'S DEGREE IN JAZZ STUDIES?
Most of our alumni go on to pursue a doctorate or a career as a professional performer or educator at a K-12 school, college, or university. Our graduates have also pursued related careers as arrangers, composers, and arts administrators. Recent graduates hold faculty positions at Portland State University, Clackamas College, and Washington State University, serve on the board of the Portland Jazz Festival, and perform regularly at jazz venues throughout the region.

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) To be admitted to PSU for a master’s program, applicants must satisfy University requirements and be accepted by the academic department in which the graduate study will occur. Admission eligibility is based on receipt of a baccalaureate degree equivalent to a United States four-year bachelor's degree from a college or university recognized as an institution of higher education by the Ministry of Education in the relevant country or be regionally accredited within the U.S. Regular Admission: To be considered for regular admission, applicants must have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or the equivalent (on the U.S. 4.0 scale). Applicants who have earned 9 or more letter-graded graduate credits must have a minimum graduate GPA of 3.0 or the equivalent; this graduate GPA supersedes the undergraduate GPA. IELTS: 6.5 overall score with minimum sub scores of 6.5 in reading and writing, TOEFL score of Paper-based: 550 overall; 22 in writing with 20 in reading and listening, TOEFL score of Internet-based: Minimum overall score of 80 with minimum sub scores of 18 in reading and writing, PTE - Academic: 60 overall.課程信息
