Major in Classics

Concentration in Classics

Students may choose one of the following five options. Each option requires an additional twelve hours of supporting coursework, which may be drawn from a wide range of fields and disciplines. Students must plan their programs in consultation with a departmental adviser.

Classics

Thirty-six hours of Greek and Latin of which only 4 hours at the 100-level may be counted – including LAT 411, GRK 411, and at least 6 additional hours in 300-xadlevel courses in each language.

English: 4 years required; Math: 3 or 3.5 years required, 4 years recommended; Social sciences: 2 years required, 4 years recommended; Lab sciences: 2 years required, 4 years recommended; Language other than English: 2 years required, 4 years recommended; Flexible academic units: 2 years required, 4+ years recommended. English language Requirements: International undergraduate students whose total TOEFL scores are 102 (TOEFL iBT) or below (*total IELTS score of 7.0 or below) are required to take the EPT. To be exempt from EPT, students must score either on TOEFL iBT: total 103 or above, and 25 or above on both speaking & writing; or on IELTS: 7.5 or above total, and 7 or above on both speaking and writing.
