Build the experience and gain the confidence you will need serving individuals with disabilities with masters in clinical rehabilitation counseling. Our program prepares graduates to work in a wide variety of clinical mental health and rehabilitation settings with individuals who are psychologically and vocationally adjusting to the disability experience. Our immersive graduate program is organized around core foundation courses, an intensive on-campus practicum training clinic experience, interpersonal growth experiences, advanced theory and practice courses, and a culminating half-time field internship placement. Our program’s 90 graduate credits are designed to meet CACREP national accreditation standards for professional counselors and the academic degree requirements to become licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Oregon and other states.

COUNSELING: CLINICAL REHABILITATION MASTER'S DEGREE: WHY PSU?

Our department is intertwined with Portland’s community of counselors. We provide counseling services to community members at our Clinic and serve community clients at internship sites. The counseling department also provides clinical supervision to post-masters counseling interns and contributes leadership/consultation for the Oregon licensure board and professional organizations such as the Oregon Counseling Association.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH A MASTER'S DEGREE IN COUNSELING: CLINICAL REHABILITATION?

Our graduates are eligible to obtain both Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and the National Certified Counselor certifications as well as licensure as professional counselors. Our graduates are employed in public mental health agencies, public and private community counseling agencies, employee assistance programs, day treatment and inpatient hospital settings, private practice, group practice, community colleges, university settings, and public and private vocational rehabilitation agencies. Graduates are employed as counselors at various community mental health agencies and in private practice. Graduates can:

• Work as counselors in private practice or community agencies
• Become clinical supervisors

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) To be admitted to PSU for a master’s program, applicants must satisfy University requirements and be accepted by the academic department in which the graduate study will occur. Admission eligibility is based on receipt of a baccalaureate degree equivalent to a United States four-year bachelor's degree from a college or university recognized as an institution of higher education by the Ministry of Education in the relevant country or be regionally accredited within the U.S. Regular Admission: To be considered for regular admission, applicants must have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or the equivalent (on the U.S. 4.0 scale). Applicants who have earned 9 or more letter-graded graduate credits must have a minimum graduate GPA of 3.0 or the equivalent; this graduate GPA supersedes the undergraduate GPA. IELTS: 6.5 overall score with minimum sub scores of 6.5 in reading and writing, TOEFL score of Paper-based: 550 overall; 22 in writing with 20 in reading and listening, TOEFL score of Internet-based: Minimum overall score of 80 with minimum sub scores of 18 in reading and writing, PTE - Academic: 60 overall.
