Great teachers start at PSU. The master’s degree in education prepares you to be a part of a new wave of progressive K-12 teachers. As America’s schools become more racially and ethnically diverse, serving students with different cultures, languages, and abilities, our teachers need to adapt. The College of Education will equip you to teach in an inclusive and equitable environment, utilizing the latest technology to help you succeed. You will be a teacher who helps each student succeed on their unique terms.

As a student of the GTEP program, you will be able to choose from two tracks: elementary or secondary education. The elementary track will help you develop a deep understanding of the subjects taught in elementary schools, while the secondary track will allow you to specialize in one (or two) subjects as a high school or middle school teacher.

ADD AN ENDORSEMENT OR SPECIALIZATION

An endorsement helps teachers focus in an educational area, and can be added for any grade level or teaching subject. You can add one of the following endorsements to your program:

• Reading
• English for Speakers of other languages (ESOL)
• Special Education Endorsement
• Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL)
• Mathematics Instructional Leader Specialization

WHAT CAN I DO WITH A MASTER'S DEGREE IN THE GRADUATE TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM?

When you successfully complete the GTEP, you will be prepared to promote the academic, career, personal, and social development of students and will be eligible for a position as an elementary or secondary classroom teacher. Others move into specialist and administrative roles. GTEP has built an extensive network of partnerships with schools and school districts in the Portland metro area. As a result, our graduates often find jobs within Portland Public Schools. PSU teacher candidates are sought after by principals both for student teaching field placements and for hiring.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) To be admitted to PSU for a master’s program, applicants must satisfy University requirements and be accepted by the academic department in which the graduate study will occur. Admission eligibility is based on receipt of a baccalaureate degree equivalent to a United States four-year bachelor's degree from a college or university recognized as an institution of higher education by the Ministry of Education in the relevant country or be regionally accredited within the U.S. Regular Admission: To be considered for regular admission, applicants must have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or the equivalent (on the U.S. 4.0 scale). Applicants who have earned 9 or more letter-graded graduate credits must have a minimum graduate GPA of 3.0 or the equivalent; this graduate GPA supersedes the undergraduate GPA. IELTS: 6.5 overall score with minimum sub scores of 6.5 in reading and writing, TOEFL score of Paper-based: 550 overall; 22 in writing with 20 in reading and listening, TOEFL score of Internet-based: Minimum overall score of 80 with minimum sub scores of 18 in reading and writing, PTE - Academic: 60 overall.
