在這里學(xué)什么?Interested in teaching music in schools as a career? Pursue your music education degree at PSU School of Music & Theater and turn your ambitious dreams into real-world impact. The Bachelor of Music in Music Education will provide you with a thorough music foundation, with specialized coursework in instrumental and vocal methods, conducting, rehearsal techniques, orchestration, and literature. You’ll train to become a music teacher in the K-12 setting and choose between our choral and instrumental music education tracks. Completing this degree will give you the necessary skills to pursue graduate teacher certification and placement as a music teacher in the public school system. MUSIC: EDUCATION BACHELOR'S DEGREE: WHY PSU?
As a music education major, you’ll begin your first year as a School of Music student by auditioning prior to your arrival. At the end of your sophomore year, you can apply to the music education program with a portfolio highlighting your talents and progress. Throughout, you will gain real-world experience collaborating with peers in our renowned ensembles and learning leadership skills from our outstanding faculty.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN MUSIC EDUCATION?Most of our alumni go on to grad school or a career as an educator in K-12 schools. Recent graduates who also completed PSU’s Graduate Teacher Ed Program (GTEP) have enjoyed **** placement in music education jobs upon graduation.
Following your bachelor’s degree, PSU offers a one-year teaching certification program. Recent graduates have earned teaching positions in districts throughout the region including Portland Public, Beaverton, Vancouver, North Clackamas, Salem-Keizer, Lake Oswego, and many others. Some are teaching music in schools throughout the U.S. and even abroad.
