在這里學(xué)什么?Russian is the eighth most widely spoken language on the planet and the third most common language spoken in Oregon. A bachelor's degree in Russian from Portland State University prepares you to become proficient in the Russian language and provides you with a solid foundation in the rich culture and literature of the Russian-speaking world, preparing you for a variety of careers all over the world. Russian is in high-demand by employers as one of the six official languages of the United Nations and listed among the critical languages by the U.S. Department of State. Whether you want to read Dostoevsky's novels in the original Russian text, study the visual design of Soviet-era propaganda, teach in a bilingual immersion program, or pursue careers in government, international diplomacy and international scientific collaboration, PSU's Russian degree can give you the skills you need to succeed.
RUSSIAN BACHELOR'S DEGREE: WHY PSU?
PSU's Russian program is designed to help you become wholly immersed in the language. Our small classes taught by expert faculty help you become proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the language, preparing you to one day gain a fluency in Russian that will allow you to live and work within areas populated by native speakers. In your Russian classes, you'll learn to communicate with Russian speakers about topics of personal and public interest, explore major cultural figures and their works and legacies, appreciate the diversity and international scope of a language that is spoken by an estimated 260 million individuals, and gain critical-thinking skills. You'll have the opportunity to take courses in Russian literature, culture, film, history, folklore, and other engaging topics in both English and Russian. You'll also have opportunities to volunteer in and interact with greater Portland's Russian-speaking community, one of the largest in the country, and study abroad for a summer, semester, or academic year. You can also explore whether the Russian Flagship Program is right for you. One of six federally funded Flagship Programs for Russian in the U.S., PSU's program allows you to pursue the major of your choice while developing proficiency in Russian.
WHAT CAN I DO WITH A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN RUSSIAN?
PSU's Russian program prepares you to graduate with proficiency in the Russian language. Russian majors work in a variety of fields, including national security and diplomacy, Russian teaching and tutoring, technical writing and translation, international trade and business, international development, social work, and publishing. Recent graduates have found rewarding careers with NASA, the U.S. Departments State and Defense, Rubicon Atlas, Bolshoi Ballet, Eurasia Foundation, and in academia.
