專業(yè)概況

The Program is built on the idea of interdisciplinary coordination and it is meant for students who are interested in Italian culture and language at any level. We focus on providing transferable skills, comparative awareness, and analytical abilities to students interested in exploring thousands of years of Italian experience in the Mediterranean, European, and Global contexts.

The major in Italian at the University of Illinois offers students a comprehensive and interdisciplinary introduction to the study of Italy in a larger Mediterranean, European and global context, covering Italian language, history, culture, and literature. With professors, lecturers and a team of graduate students from the United States and Italy, all of whom are committed to undergraduate education, we are able to offer not simply a series of courses in Italian Studies, but a major and minor where students get to know the faculty and instructors personally. Study abroad is not required, but is typically a rewarding and significant part of the major in Italian Studies at Illinois.

English: 4 years required; Math: 3 or 3.5 years required, 4 years recommended; Social sciences: 2 years required, 4 years recommended; Lab sciences: 2 years required, 4 years recommended; Language other than English: 2 years required, 4 years recommended; Flexible academic units: 2 years required, 4+ years recommended. English language Requirements: International undergraduate students whose total TOEFL scores are 102 (TOEFL iBT) or below (*total IELTS score of 7.0 or below) are required to take the EPT. To be exempt from EPT, students must score either on TOEFL iBT: total 103 or above, and 25 or above on both speaking & writing; or on IELTS: 7.5 or above total, and 7 or above on both speaking and writing.
