This programme is offered by the Department of Sport and Physical Education, Hong Kong Baptist University for holders of Associate Degree (AD) or Higher Diploma (HD) who wish to develop a career in the sport and recreation industry.

Programme Features

• Aims at preparing students for providing sport and recreation services for the mainstream as well as different sectors of the population, including people with special needs and requiring special attention, such as the elderly and those with physical or intellectual disabilities.
• Integrates broad-based academic knowledge with practical training.
• Through extensive professional placements (500 hours of internship over a period of two years), students can gain valuable working experiences in different sport and recreation organisations that serve both the mainstream population as well as people with special needs.
• Equips students to become sport and recreation professionals with sound knowledge foundations of human development and a strong sense of social responsibility for community services.

Programme Structure

This undergraduate programme is basically a four-year full-time honours undergraduate programme catering for Associate Degree graduates concentrated in sport and recreation. Students with an Associate of Science in Sport and Recreation Studies or equivalent may apply for direct admission to Year Three of the programme and to complete a total of 66 units for graduation.

Associate Degree graduates of other disciplines are required to complete certain pre-requisites, including General Education and Free Elective Courses required by Hong Kong Baptist University. The exact courses to be exempted and the number of pre-requisites to be completed shall be considered on a case-by-case basis upon admission.

Grade C or above in GCE O-Level/ GCSE/ IGCSE English; or Grade E or above in GCE AS Level or AL Level English; Grade E or above in HKALE Use of English (AS Use of English); IB - Grade 4 in: IB English A (Higher or Standard Level); or IB English B (Higher Level); or IB English Literature and Performance (Standard Level) or Grade 5 in: IB English B (Standard Level).
