This programme is offered by Academy of Film, School of Communication, Hong Kong Baptist University for holders of Associate Degree (AD) or Higher Diploma (HD) who wish to continue on to a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing for Film, Television and New Media.

Programme Features

• A non-government-funded honours undergraduate programme.
• A full-time programme which is normally completed in two years.
• Cultivates creativity and originality in media convergence in an era of globalisation.
• Emphasis on creative writing and professional scripts for feature film, television/web serial drama, variety show and new media, such as television/film content for mobile devices, video games, 3D-animation and podcasts.
• Students will benefit from a wide array of professional guidance and supervision through the Academy’s network of top veteran screenwriters, directors, television companies, production companies and studios.
• Provides students with the training and knowledge of scriptwriting formats and techniques, with a focus on the visual tools of interactive languages of new media and cinematic storytelling.

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative Writing for Film, Television and New Media awarded by Hong Kong Baptist University.

Career Prospects

Graduates will be well equipped with professional scriptwriting skills and knowledge, and will be able to contribute to development in new media (television/film for mobile devices, 3D-animation, video games, podcasts) as well as expansion in the film and TV industry of not only Hong Kong, but also the Greater China Region.

Programme Structure

The four-year undergraduate programme requires students to complete a total of 128 units, including 66 units of Major Courses, 38 units of General Education Courses and 24 units of Free Elective Courses.

Students with Associate Degree or Higher Diploma qualifications will normally be admitted directly into the third year of BA study to complete the programme in two years, and they are required to complete 51 units of Major Required Courses and 15 units of Major Elective Courses.

Grade C or above in GCE O-Level/ GCSE/ IGCSE English; or Grade E or above in GCE AS Level or AL Level English; Grade E or above in HKALE Use of English (AS Use of English); IB - Grade 4 in: IB English A (Higher or Standard Level); or IB English B (Higher Level); or IB English Literature and Performance (Standard Level) or Grade 5 in: IB English B (Standard Level).
