在這里學(xué)什么?The Lamar University Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management will prepare you to ensure that construction projects are completed on time and on budget without sacrificing the quality of work or the safety of your workers.
From design to completion, you will work through the entire process of turning a blueprint into reality. As cities grow, so does both the demand for construction managers and the career potential of our graduates. The Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management at Lamar University is ideal for problem-solvers, great communicators and people who like a different job site day-to-day or like to travel. We place **** of our graduates into jobs right away with starting salaries in the $50K range.
Each year we present a career forum to keep you apprised of career pathways and job openings, and every program includes feedback from high-level construction executives in your chosen area. You can work for some of the largest companies in the region and the nation including Turner Industries, Mason, Sundt, Bo-Mac, SpawGlass and various specialty industrial and infrastructure contractors.
Courses You May Take
Internship: Four hundred hours of pre-planned, unique practicum that provides knowledge and skills not found in the traditional classroom setting. Special learning objectives in one of the following is recommended, but other objectives will be considered: project management, acquisition and development of residential land, scheduling, construction technology, field operations, office operations, building materials, estimating, finance, marketing, construction management, and/or land use codes and regulations. A final report and oral presentation are required under supervision of an academic advisor.
Capstone Project: Development of an actual construction project and/or a business plan. Covers elements of construction ethics; applies principles of oral and written communication.
Heavy Construction Materials and Methods: Introduction to heavy construction principles and the use of BIM/CAD materials, assemblies and print reading; foundations; concrete construction - including cast-in-place, precast concrete systems and formwork; masonry; finishes; and steel construction.
Industrial and Mechanical Construction: A survey of the systems, including equipment, piping, and materials, used in industrial construction, and applicable codes. Course includes process laboratories, and development of an industrial construction execution plan.
